Jacob

For seven long years, Jacob labored to earn the right to marry beautiful Rachel. Now the time is up—but Rachel’s devious father substitutes his elder daughter on their wedding night! You’ll be enthralled by the adventures of this patriarch—from his theft of Esau’s blessing to his life-changing wrestling match with God.

If Jacob had to go through such trials - did God love Jacob?

Indeed, God loved Jacob, and this is why God put Jacob through such trials not only here as described in this movie, but also later in his life as well when he lost his beloved son Joseph to Egypt.

Jacob had a very difficult and trying life, though the promise of a great nation to come as promised to Abraham, through Isaac, unto Jacob who became Israel, was to appear yet in the future from such humbled beginnings.

So why did God put Isaac through such trials?

Because God loved Jacob.

Jacob had done wrong by his brother Easu, and so God brought punishment upon Jacob. God also puts all of His most beloved sons through trials so as that He proves His sons worthy to receive His blessings. As was with Jacob, so it is with us today, our most beloved Christian brothers and sisters often must face trials to be refined constantly, so as to be received as worthy before our Holy God.

But Jacob wronged his brother because he loved God so much, and God knew this, and so tried Jacob for his loyalty, as well as punishing him for his offence against his brother.

Yet God hated Esau. Why? Because Esau did not care for God, Esau did not love the blessings he was given as the eldest son, because Esau sold everything of God - for a bowl of red porridge!!!

And so God hated Esau. Yet God never punished Esau. Why? Because God hated him for rejecting Him… and so God let Esau be himself, and let Esau attain the riches he so desired over the blessings of God, while also earning the eternal damnation of God.

Yet Jacob was loved by God, because no matter what the cost, Jacob desired the love and blessings of God more than anything else.

Yes, Jacob was tried… because he was truly loved and blessed by God. And Jacob and his children have received the blessings of God forever. And remember that God sent His long promised Redeemer Jesus Christ to the Israelites - sons of Jacob.

And Esau, and his children of Edom were hated forevermore.

Romans 9:13
As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. (Romans 9:13)

There are many more examples of God's hate of Esau and his children of Edom, and many more examples of God's love of Israel and his children. Read the Bible… its wonderful and full of truth!!
