The Gospel Of John

The Gospel of John is a visual retelling of the Book of John. The film is visually and structurally very well done, and the movie is quite entertaining to watch easily and many times over.

The Gospel of John is always the first place to begin for any new Christian when they first approach reading their Bible, John is also the best book to read from when talking to a non Christian about the life of Christ, its promises, and its hopes for us all through the sacrifice of the Messiah.

As such, this film also does a very good job of translating and revealing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people who are not Christian, from this same wonderful text of the apostle John. The book of John is so clear, so simple, so poetic, so majestic, and such a wonderful gift for everyone to start to look at the work, sacrifice and salvation of Christ, while not missing a single step in its message.

As with any Bible based movie, this one too has flaws, which we must try to overlook as we try as best we can when we watch films which still seem to have an authentic message to tell with the right intentions. Being based on the Good News Bible is one of those poor points, as is the usual film betrayal of a slightly effeminate Jesus, and other small points. Despite these few misgivings, the Gospel of John is easily watchable by any Christian, and is a film that can be enjoyed.

Henry Ian Cusick, Christopher Plummer, Scott Handy, Daniel Kash, Richard Lintern
