The Story Of Ruth

Inspired by the historical narrative from the Christian Bible, this movie completely departs from the Bible to tell the story of the Moabitess child Ruth is sold to the temple of Chemosh. Years pass and she serves as a priestess to the idol. While arranging a temple ritual, she encounters a Judean family of artisans: Elimelech, his wife Naomi, their sons Chilion and Mahlon, and daughter-in-law Orpah. Ruth is curious about their God, and begins to meet secretly with Mahlon. After tragedy strikes, Ruth follows Naomi and begins a new life in Bethlehem, only to find she is not accepted by the people of the land of Judaea.

Warning: This movie is almost completely false in relation to the true Bible history. There is nothing to say that Ruth ever served in any temple to any false god, and almost all of the rest of the movie is also wrong. The book of Ruth is very short, and will take about 10 minutes to read, why not read that book now - to find out the true story of Ruth.

Furthermore: while Ruth can be described as a Moabitess, because she came from living in the country / plains (region) of Moab, she was NOT of the Moab people group. Ruth was an Israelite, who like other Israelites who mixed with surrounding peoples - fell into following false gods, but returned to the true God Yahweh when she returned to Israel.

The Israelites living in the region of West Jordan had migrated from Mt Ephraim, these western plains contained no Moabites of the Moab people group, who had been previously completely removed from this region with not one person remaining - Judges 3:28 - The only Moabites of the race of Moabites left at this time were ONLY living on the East bank of the Jordan.

Ruth was the great-grandmother of King David. If Ruth was not a true Israelite by blood, then David could not only never have become king, but could never even enter into any congregation of God until 10 generations had passed from Ruth... King David was the third generation, and King Solomon was the fourth generation... and so we know for fact that Ruth was a true Israelite... otherwise David and his descendents could never have held the throne of Israel or Judah.

An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the Lord for ever: Deuteronomy 23:3 - We can also see the contempt which God held the race of Moabites in, in other places of the Bible eg Zephaniah 2:9 and Isaiah 25:10.
